So memories not good enough to say if they're nice beaches or not :-D). http://www.bernezac.com/Chatelaillon-Plage.htmMiss-Apple37https://www.blogger.com/profile/04520441393053631625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-416576248516296928.post-12007307016215505082017-05-02T13:26:49.240-07:002017-05-02T13:26:49.240-07:00I've been to La Rochelle and the town is beaut...I've been to La Rochelle and the town is beautiful, but there's no actual beach there, is there? I didn't know about Chatelaillon Plage though! Maybe that's what I've been missing. I did love Île de Ré when I went there - I want to go back to see the UNESCO World Heritage site that's on the island now that I know about it. Thanks for the tip on the beaches of Oléron also! I've never been on that island.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12201776139107151684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-416576248516296928.post-86742151127470444812017-04-29T14:36:04.823-07:002017-04-29T14:36:04.823-07:00My favorite getaway town is La Rochelle and the be...My favorite getaway town is La Rochelle and the beach of Chatelaillon nearby, it's a 2:15 drive from Tours. I don't remember if you've ever been there, but La Rochelle is a beautiful old town with paved and narrow streets, a port, restaurants, etc... And I like Chatelaillon Plage because there's no ugly apartment building, just nice looking villas, and the market is big and really nice (can't remember which day). Also La Rochelle is 15min from l'Île de Ré, which is absolutely gorgeous (white houses, blue/green shutters, beautiful hollihocks everywhere, port towns) and 1h from l'Île d'Oléron which isn't as beautiful but which is wilder and has better beaches in my opinion.Miss-Apple37https://www.blogger.com/profile/04520441393053631625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-416576248516296928.post-31461659909231946532017-04-27T11:36:19.364-07:002017-04-27T11:36:19.364-07:00The flat was nice, other than the location not bei...The flat was nice, other than the location not being what I'd expected. :-) I haven't been to St Gilles Croix de Vie - I'll have to add it to the list!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12201776139107151684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-416576248516296928.post-54665639188848933992017-04-21T16:33:50.821-07:002017-04-21T16:33:50.821-07:00Shame that the location of your accommodation was ...Shame that the location of your accommodation was disappointing. I've been to Les Sables a couple of times and enjoyed walking around the harbour, people watching. It's very busy at the height of the season though. Have you been to St Gilles Croix de Vie slightly further north? It's smaller than Les Sables but has more charm I think.Fionahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11809277044939851200noreply@blogger.com
